Let me cut straight to the chase: it IS possible to feel differently, to think differently and to be different.
What a relief, am I right?
I’m Nicole Symcox, Licensed Psychotherapist and EMDRIA Certified EMDR Clinician and EMDR Consultant. I specialize in treating Trauma and Anxiety Disorders for kids and adults with ADHD. Through a variety of evidence-based methods like EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing), Brainspotting, Expressive Arts Therapy, and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, I support you through the healing process.
My approach is rooted in authenticity and relational realness. I’m interested in who you truly are – the whole shebang. And, I believe authenticity helps us grow.
I will meet you where you’re at. I’m not a one-size-fits-all therapist. My goal is to understand where you are currently and where you want to go so that I can help you get there.
I support your process. When I work with a client, we are actively working together to process and heal the effects of painful experiences, change negative thought patterns and beliefs, and create healthier behaviors that align with your goals. I use evidence based treatment modalities that have high success rates which means my clients often end up getting to a place where they are managing their lives in much healthier ways.
Now, lets talk about you…
You deserve to feel balanced, at peace, and internally strong. And sometimes what that requires is a little backup.
#1 Most of my clients come to see me because they are struggling with ADHD. Working with Neurodiverse individuals is one of my greatest passions. I LOVE supporting parents and ADHD kids in the process of understanding how to cope in a world that wasn’t built for them. I offer parent-child therapy, including parent-child EMDR. I also offer a variety of programs to help support parents who have a child with an ADHD diagnosis. I help not just the child, but also offer parent education and parent support so we can build a healthy bridge between you and your child. When you have a child with ADHD it impacts the entire family, so I take a holistic, family approach to support both parent and child in the healing process. You can pick and choose the service or program feels best to you. Everything is always custom designed to fit your unique needs.
#2 Many of my clients are healing from the effects of Trauma and Anxiety. When they first come to see me, they have tried everything with little success. They are dealing with an intense amount panic, overwhelm, overthinking, and difficulty at work or with relationships. They’re often wondering what’s wrong with them, why they’re reacting so strongly to everyday issues and why their emotions are all over the map. Together we can work through the past in order to create a happier, more balance future.
#3 I have over a decade of experience working with kids and teens, as well as a background in teaching. I have specialized training in Art and Play Therapy to support kids in processing their emotions, building confidence and developing healthy coping strategies.
#4 I work with many people who are dealing with anxiety disorders. Anxiety can take an incredible toll on our job performance, relationships, self-esteem and social lives. If you’re tired of feeling unfocused, tired, indecisive, worried or lost, we can work together on treating the root of your anxiety and employ anxiety-reduction methods. I use a combination of CBT, EMDR, Brainspotting and Art Therapy to help you feel more more focused and calm in your daily life.
It’s your life, let’s make the best it can be.
